PREREQUISITE IS TO HAVE TAKEN A ROUND, SQUARE, RECTANGLE OR ODD SHAPE FINISHING CLASS - NO REFUNDS
Learn how to finish your own needlepoint cartonnage matchbox! Drawing on the rich history of French Cartonnage and adapted thoughtfully for needlepoint, you’ll learn to construct a custom matchbox and cover it in gorgeous bookcloth (choose from flax, light blue, light pink, emerald, or red). You’ll leave class with a beautifully constructed memento and the confidence to try it again with your take-home kit and instructions.
We recommend having experience finishing rounds and rectangles before this class as we will complete the top of the matchbox quickly.
Required: Please email a photo of your canvas and desired bookcloth color to Amanda at finishingfairy@gmail.com at least two days prior to class to ensure we build your class kit with your desired finish in mind.
Participants should bring:
-
A completed RECTANGLE OR SQUARE canvas (approximately matchbox sized or 2.5” by 5”. Design specs vary and that’s okay). Must be blocked (Instructional video on how to block your canvas here.)
-
A photocopy of your canvas after blocking
Cording material and bookcloth will be provided.
Optionally, if you have strong preferences on color matching:
-
Two skeins of DMC Floss or DMC Pearle (only if you have a color preference; we have a wide variety of colors
-
Class is instructed using Cialux bookcloth. If you’d like to source a different color, it must be the Cialux brand, as the specifications for our build will vary based on the thickness of your bookcloth. Adapting based on other bookcloth thickness, fabric, or other materials is not conducive to a beginner course. You will need ½ yard.
